The Flagship
Story
Design & Origins: Built in Spain in 2004 as an Evento 42 cruiser-racer by the renowned naval architecture studio Judel/Vrolijk & Co.
The Early Era: Commissioned for the German Seebahn-Junioren youth project, whose crew became the era's most decorated German ORC racing team, culminating in a dominant victory at the 2011 ORCi European Championship.
The Venice Incident: After transitioning away from the German youth program, she was acquired by new owners. Disaster struck during a high-stakes regatta off the coast of Venice, Italy, where the vessel suffered catastrophic structural damage. The incident resulted in a total loss claim from the insurance company, threatening to end her racing legacy permanently.

The Bulgarian Resurrection: The hull was saved and miraculously restored to life by her current Bulgarian owner, Mihail Mitev, a proven name in high-tech composites applications in the sailing sector, an expert sail designer, and a highly accomplished racing sailor. Through his exceptional technical skills and craftsmanship, the structural integrity of the Judel/Vrolijk design was completely revived.
Specifications: With an overall length of 12.8 meters (42 feet), Hispaniola is one of the largest and fastest racing yachts in our region. She features a fully carbon-fiber rig for maximum weight reduction and performance, and requires a perfectly coordinated crew of 10 sailors to operate at her full potential.
The Current Chapter: Proudly flying the Bulgarian flag, the yacht retains her original name, Hispaniola, and serves as the prestigious flagship for the Sofia Sail Yacht Club. Based permanently in Greece, she actively and successfully competes in regional handicap regattas with her dedicated Sofia Sail racing crews.
